To Kill A Mockingbird Journal #8

Chapters: 25-27
Perspective: ME
Prompt: 3

At this point the book could basically do anything. If it wanted to it could give Bob Ewell a gun and allow him to shoot up the town. Then it would explain to us that the 2 more people that needed to go down weren’t enough and he had to take revenge on the people who saw him as a person who couldn’t get his story straight. I have 2 possible predictions on what’s going to happen next in this story and I am fairly certain that they are somewhat close to what’s actually going to happen. My 1st prediction follows a rumor that allegedly states Jem and Bob are going to fight. My 2nd states that Bob will be persecuted because people will think he’s after Judge Taylor.

Alright, we all know that Jem has had some problems dealing with the trial. In addition to that, Bob’s threats freaked him and Scout out. On top of that he knows that 1 is down and there are 2 more to go. I propose that he will take Scout to town and run into Bob. Actually he doesn’t need to run into Bob in town. All he has to do is see Bob and if he gets close to him he’s going to try to fight Bob. Jem has been growing up and he thinks highly of himself. He may think he’s stronger than Bob and fight him to try preventing him from getting those other 2 people. There is another way he could end up fighting Bob. IF he sees Bob then he may want to follow him to see if he can get any hints to who those 2 people are. After following him to an unpopulated area Bob will become aware of his presence and call him out. After that Jem would lose control of himself similar to what he did with Mrs. Debose’s flowers and fight Bob. In this situation Jem would become somewhat of a hypocrite because he told scout to drop the case when he went after Bob to learn about post case events.

This next prediction is improbable but to me an aspect of it is inevitable. The inevitable part is that the town’s folk will think that Bob Ewell is out to do something, maybe get revenge. The improbable part is that people will take what Bob said about one down two to go and think he’s a danger to the town. Judge Taylor would gather thoughts and believe that he is one of the 2 people, and then think that Bob was trying to break into his house. The town would demand Bob to be jailed and Jem and Scout would live worry free. This would be easy to do because the Judge would have almost become a victim and Atticus would want it because of the trouble he’s caused his family.

  1. I really like how you add so much detail into your predictions. I agree completely with your predictions. I really like how you put the out come of it too. Over all great job. =D
